Toolkit Section 4 – Online Tools supporting Blended Learning
There are a wide range of digital technologies that have been used successfully with learners within classroom settings. All of the technologies chosen for the purpose of this toolkit supplement face- to -face learning activities. They are engaging, interactive, fun, and flexible and all of them will work seamlessly across desktop computers, laptops, and mobile devices. This is an important feature to look out for when evaluating a tool. All of the open tools described here are freely available and can be used in many teaching and learning context. To create successful educational experiences, one must ensure that the selected technology works well with the intended teaching approach. Trying a variety of the following different methods of technology will engage the learners and enhance their learning experience.
A screencast is a digital recording of computer screen output, also known as a video screen capture, often containing audio narration. Screencasts provides learners with a learner-centered approach to learning which can be experienced in both distance and traditional learning settings.

Teachers can use Nearpod effectively in the classroom to support learner learning in a variety of ways. Nearpod can be used as an instructional tool; teachers can project learner work to the class to discuss, review, or evaluate individual responses.

EDpuzzle provides teachers with a free learning space to create and edit videos and enhance them with embeddable questions. EDpuzzle targets a specific problem for teachers who spend a lot of time trying to find the perfect video. Give the options, trim, record voice and embed questions to a video and hold the learners accountable while they watch the video.

Kahoot! is a free game-based learning platform used by millions of people around the world every day to discover, create, play and share learning games.
Kahoot! can be used for any subject, any age, and with any device – and learners don’t need to register for an account. The platform is designed to make learning fun – but it’s not just for the classroom.

Prezi is a presentation tool that can be used as an alternative to traditional slide making programs such as PowerPoint. Instead of slides, Prezi makes use of one large canvas that allows you to pan and zoom to various parts of the canvas and emphasise the ideas presented there.
